Velocity Softball Performs at Summer Tournaments
The Velocity 16u fast pitch softball team took first place and
second place in two recent tounaments. There home field is
Springfield High School, but they excelled on the road with a first
place finish in the Bethlehem Blast Tournament and second in the
East Stroudsburg University Tournament. The team pictured above is
made up of (kneeling, l to r) Jillian Deiley, Rachel Konowal, Kim
Machalette, Maria Vido, (standing) Coach Tina Machalette, Anna
Blackwood, Taylor DelMonte, Abby Boyer, Coach Mike Machalette,
Courtney Konowal, Kelsea Schagrin, Emma Goodrich, Brynn Riesenberg,
and Coach Rick Konowal. Most of the players attend high school at
Springfield, Plymouth-Whitemarsh and Germantown Academy. The mission
of Velocity Softball is to improve the level of play in the area
while also teaching valuable life lessons learned through team sports.
Strong offense, solid defense and great pitching added up to the
success for this team and every member made a contribution. Their
success helped the team qualify for the USSSA Nationals and will be
attending the 13th Annual Fall Scholastic Showcase College Exposure
in Bachman Sports Complex in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
