Undefeated WMS Boys Tennis Team
Email Print
The Wissahickon Boys' tennis team finished their season with a
perfect 10-0 record to become undefeated league champions once again.
Despite many postponed matches and rainouts, they were able to
complete most of their contests. The team is comprised of seventh
and eighth grade players who try out for the team in early March. The
Varsity squad consists of two singles players and three doubles
teams; "Exhibition" teams are all doubles. The JV team remained
undefeated as well. Jack Zhang and Srinivas Sunil led the team as co-
captains. Everyone remained undefeated in their individual positions
or recorded only one loss overall. An amazing team effort which
attests to their depth as a group, according to coach Carolyn Shaner.
Due to weather conditions, the league tournament was cancelled after
several postponements. Since the competition did not take place,
players were given medals according to their season records. The
entire Wissahickon team earned four first place gold medals and one
second place silver medal. This is a testament to their consistent
hard work and strong focus all year.
To end the season, the WMS girls' and boys' teams participated in
their annual mixed doubles tourney last week. Both teams share the
honor of being league champions for the last ten years.
