Family Stages will provide plenty of entertainment on the stage at Christ’s Lutheran Church beginning with a July performance of The Legend of Finn McCool. Audiences will be treated to a rollicking bit of Celtic folklore, The Legend of Finn McCool. Finn, the great hunter, warrior and poet, learns wisdom from the Salmon of Knowledge. Then he cleverly rids the land of a clumsy giant and saves the Castle Tara from a flame- breathing goblin. His story is told with vim and vigor and more than a touch of Irish wit. The performance is set for Thursday, July 21st. August audiences will be treated to Cinderella. This zany, two-actor version of the timeless classic features all the well known characters: poor Cinderella, stuck with the household chores; her vain, overbearing step-sister; the Fairy Godmother and, of course, Prince Charming. The story takes on a hilarious new dimension with the addition of Miles the Town Crier. Miles is a young, hip trumpeter is trying to join the palace band. Cinderella is scheduled for August 11th. Family Stages summer performances are designed for all family members, ages 3 and up. The shows run just under an hour. Curtain for all performance is 10:30 am. Tickets are $9.00 and can be reserved by calling 215-886-9341 or emailing familystages@gmail.com. The theater is located at Christ’s Lutheran Church, 700 E. Pennsylvania Avenue in Orleand. Family Stages will also conduct two week-long theatre camps, July 18-22 and August 8-12. The fun-filled camp activities include theatre games, improvisations and a gala final performance to end the week. Young campers, ages 5 and 6, meet from 9 am to noon. The older group, ages 7-12, meet from 9 am to 3 pm. The program is conducted by members of the Family Stages performance company. Parents can call the theatre at 215-886-9341 for registration details. |
