Paul and Carter Seggev-Smith of Fort Washington, starting out on the 2010 Pennsylvania Sojourn with their grandfather, David Smith of Church Hill, MD. The trip covered more than 250 miles through Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Delaware River Valley of New Jersey and was sponsored by Rails to Trails, whose mission is to create a nationwide network of recreation trails from former rail lines to build healthier places for healthier people. The trio here spend the night on the Battleship New Jersey before crossing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and biking along the Schuylkill River Trail to that night's campground at the John James Audubon homestead. The ride lasted one week, with stops along the route to enjoy interesting heritage sites and the attractions of local communities. |
