PMCA Presents Oklahoma! – Okay!

On November 17th, 18th, and 19th, the lights will dim in Hamel
Auditorium at Phil-Mont Christian Academy. The music will begin, and
suddenly audiences will be transported to a world of cowboys,
farmers, peddlers and dance hall girls as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
Pulitzer Prize winning Oklahoma! takes the stage. Songs like “People
Will Say We’re in Love,” “Surrey With the Fringe on Top,” “The Farmer
and the Cowman” and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’” are known and
loved around the globe.
Casting for PMCA’s production took place on week two of the school
year with thirty-six students chosen to kick up their cowboy boots.
Veteran Drama Director Will Liegel is supported by middle school
social studies teacher Miss Katie Trego as Music Director and Student
Assistant director Brittany Adams (’12). Playing Curly and his
sweetheart Laurie are Brad Steiger (’12, of Ambler) and Emma Shope
(’12 from Willow Grove). Well remembered as the primary couple of
Phil-Mont’s Pirates of Penzance two years back. Jeremy Bierema (’12,
Ardsley) is the hick cowpoke Will Parker, smitten by the flirtatious
Ado Annie played by Korinn Geigel (’12, Philadelphia). Rounding out
the featured players are Matt Sawyer (’13, Philadelphia) as Ali
Hakim, David Kelley (’12, Oreland) as Jud Fry and Susi McKay (’12,
Willow Grove) as Aunt Eller. Support crews are in place, with over
twenty additional students spread out over costumes, set, make-up,
tickets and all the rest. With over one hundred specially designed
costumes and a set that includes a working windmill, this will surely
be a show to remember.
Phil-Mont Christian Academy is located at 35 Hillcrest Avenue in
Erdenheim. Show time is 7:30 pm each night, with a 2:00 pm matinee on
Saturday. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for students and are
available at the school; call 215.233.0782 for more information. All
seats are reserved.
