Boomer U at 45 Forest Avenue in Ambler will host the following events
to add some interest to your July. For more information or to
register for an event, call 215-619-8863.
Tuesday July 19th - “Bridging the Gap Between Islam & the West”: How
much do you really know about Islam….and just how different are we?
Join us for this enlightening discussion on our differences. Promises
to be fascinating. Facilitated by Mohamed Morsi and Amer Quaddoura.
7-9pm, $10.
On Thursday July 28th - Kitchen Sink Wisdom: Take a look what’s
inside your medicine cabinet. Is it filled with synthetic products
containing artificial-ingredients? Do the products have side-effects
that are potentially more harmful than what they are supposed to
cure? If you answered yes to either of these, then don't miss this
class.
In this workshop you will learn about some of the simplest, most
effective (yet inexpensive) remedies for common ailments. Learn
about a well-stocked medicine cabinet and first-aid kit using some
basic essential oils, herbs, homeopathic remedies, minerals and much
more. These remedies are chosen for their usefulness and
effectiveness for use at home and are safe for all ages. To enjoy
each day fully, it’s not something just to work on when things go out
of balance. The key lies in empowering ourselves with education on
how to work with the healer inside of each of us. Part of this
process is what we safely utilize to help us through the times when
we may not be feeling our best. Life is not just about being alive
but being alive and well.
This workshop is facilitated by Susan Anderson, a holistic
practitioner, who took the initiative years ago when diagnosed with
rheumatoid arthritis. She operates Seeds for Change Wellness and is
now sharing her knowledge with the larger community. 6:30-9:30pm,
$49. (Includes a comprehensive resource booklet).
On Tuesday, July 26th – “Card Art”: Have you ever admired artsy
greeting cards (or note cards) and wonder if you could do that
yourself? You will learn two delicate, handcrafted paper art-forms
from Europe: Ornare (paper piercing) and Paper Embroidery. Soon
people will admire your work and wonder the same thing.
On Tuesday, August 9th “Brain Games”: Discover the brain’s amazing
ability to rejuvenate and reorganize itself through a series of
physical, social and mental challenges. Learn about this brain
plasticity (flexibility) and practice a series of exercises to help
keep your brain healthy and happy. (Instructor is an author, former
therapist and Professor of Psychology.)
Each of these programs requires pre-registration and fees paid in
advance. Contact Boomer U for more details.
