New Book Clubs forming at Jeanes Library
Email Print
Being in a book discussion group can be a fun and rewarding way to
enjoy reading and socializing with others who enjoy reading. Anyone
who is a regular reader has read books that they would love to talk
about with someone who has also read that book. Getting other
people’s thoughts and opinions can make you think about a book in a
new way or validate your own impressions.
In advance of and in anticipation of the eventual move back to the
renovated Joshua Road location, the William Jeanes Library will be
offering customers an opportunity to join a community book club. Not
only do they want to start a book club, but they are planning to have
two! One which meets in the evening to convenience working folk and
another which meets during the day for those who don't like night
driving or who have openings in their daytime schedules. The first
meetings are scheduled for Wednesday evening, July 20th from 6:30-8pm
and for Thursday afternoon, July 21 from 3:30 to 5pm. These first
meetings will be held in the upstairs meeting room at the temporary
quarters, 2391 Harts Lane. An advance call would be appreciated so
they know how many chairs to make room for.
Please call or email Robyn Train at rtrain@mclinc.org or talk to
someone at the checkout desk to let them know if you are looking for
a book club. They would like to know what your preferred time
schedule is as well as whether or not you are interested in taking a
leading role. The first meeting will be an organizational meeting, be
prepared to talk about any book you have recently read for a few
minutes. At this organizational meeting participants will develop a
list of books to be read. If you miss the first meeting, you can
still call to find out what books are being read and join at a later
time.
More information about library activities for children, teens and
adults is available at jeaneslibrary.org. William Jeanes Library
