Mission Marshmallow Takes on MS
Email Print
Taylor Bires recruited her 7th grade classmates at Sandy Run
Middle School to go for a short walk at Mondauk Park in June. She
called the event Mission Marshmallow and set up a table to sell
marshmallow treats to raise funds “so one day there will be a cure
for MS (Multiple Sclerosis).”
Taylor tells the story, “14 years ago my mom was diagnosed with MS
just before she was pregnant with me. She has to take many shots, but
is trying to stay as healthy as possible. This disease causes a lot
of stress and can be fatal if it gets to a certain level. Most people
are diagnosed between the age of 20 and 50, although individuals as
young as 2 and as old as 75 have developed it. Approximately 400,000
Americans have M.S, and every week 200 people are diagnosed. World-
wide, MS affects 2.5 million people. I know we can all make a
difference to save the people we love and cherish from this terrible
disease!” With those sentiments Mission Marshmallow was born.

In addition to the day of the walk at Mondauk, Taylor has taken her
stand to the Ambler Auto Show and to movie night at Ambler Borough.
There is another movie night on Friday July 22nd. The movie will be
Megamind. A treat for the whole family at Ricciardi Park on Hendricks
St. in Ambler. Taylor will be there with her Marsmallow Treats so
everyone attending can help her support the fight against MS while
they enjoy the movie.
