MGCA / Contact Point Speed Networking Event a Great Success
Email Print
I met 30 business owners of various sizes and
industries, and left with several new prospects and friends. I look
forward to attending future events with this group. The 2 minute
format gave me a chance to fine tune my message by repeating it so
often, and gave me a quick taste of what everyone else does, giving
me a chance to connect with those of interest later. Unlike most
networking events where you rarely meet half the crowd, this forced
everyone to meet, in a friendly, fun, fast paced format that kept you
on your toes and ready for more.”
MGCA member Sam Vinicur added “Speed Net was one of the best events
of its kind. I believe that new business will be the result.”
The meeting was set up as a round robin. Participants were paired up
at a table and each given 2 minutes to describe their businesses.
After the 4 minutes, one of the pair ‘rotated’ to the next table to
meet with another business owner, and so on. In the end, and through
some shifting of seats, everyone got to meet everyone else. Further,
the MGCA and CP provided a spreadsheet with everyone’s contact
information for the all important post-event follow up.
“This is one of the core MGCA goals – to promote networking and
business.” said MGCA President Dr Steven Greene. “This also gets
exposure for the group as well as Contact Point. About 30% of the
people at today’s event are not members and most have an interest in
joining the groups. Events like this help the MGCA to grow.” The
next MGCA meeting is Tuesday June 28th at 11:45 am. Contact Point
meets weekly on Wednesdays.
There are many networking events to attend in this area and it’s
difficult at times to pick the best ones. Everyone who attended this
event felt it was a good bang for the buck. While no date is set,
it’s likely that another speed networking event may be in the works
in the near future.
Contact Point member Ed Flanagan added “When I attend a typical
Networking event with more than 20 attendees, I usually come away
with 4-5 new contacts. At this event, I met all of the attendees and
made at least 10 new contacts. I would highly recommend this event
to everyone seeking to increase their network.”
“The best part of the event is the opportunity to meet everyone in a
structured environment where you can find out quickly if you and the
other person have anything in common. Since these are very short
meetings, you know who you want to reach out to and contact at a
later time. I attended the Speed Networking Event on Friday and found
it to be very beneficial. I enjoyed the format and the interaction
before and after the event. I feel that I have received many great
contacts and within a day of the event have already begun scheduling
follow up meetings with several of my contacts from this event. I
would certainly attend another one of these events in the future.”
said recent MGCA member Tim Fagan.
