A group of Upper Dublin High School alumni have reunited to create
"Broadway on Main," a musical revue that will run at Act II Playhouse
in Ambler from August 3rd through August 6th. The show will feature
songs from musicals spanning several generations, including Phantom
of the Opera, Oklahoma, Les Miserables, Avenue Q, Anything Goes,
Cabaret, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and
Spamalot (just to name a few!).
According to the show’s producer, Kaytie O’Hara, “There is a
noticeable lack of community based arts programming and that is how
this project took off – in an effort to find a solution and offer the
community more opportunities to see great theatre and hear beautiful
music. This seems like the perfect chance to showcase performers with
roots here in the Ambler area. We are so fortunate to have Act II
Playhouse right here in our backyard, and we hope that the
surrounding community will come out and support these talented
performers.
From singers to lighting designers, the entire cast and production
team are UDHS graduates. Cast members includes Samantha Riesenberg
('08), Samantha Kuhl (’07), Jeremy Toll (’06), Bob McDonald (’96) and
Kaytie O'Hara (’95), all of whom were heavily involved in the music
and theatre programs during their 4 years at Upper Dublin High School
and have gone on to pursue careers and college studies in the arts.
This has also been a wonderful opportunity for Rich Wilhelm, retired
UDHS choral director, to reunite and perform with former students.
Susan Broom, a Fort Washington resident, is directing the show.
A Preview performance will be given on August 3rd at 8:00 pm.
Admission is $10. Performances August 4th through 6th at 8:00 pm
will be $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors.
Act II Theater is located at 56 E. Butler Ave. in Ambler. Tickets
