African Violet Society Celebrates 60 years
Email Print
The African Violet Society of Philadelphia, which was organized by
Stanley Nelson, has been “Growing Together Since 1951”. It is an
affiliate of the African Violet Society of America.
During it’s 60 years, the society has shared the beauty of African
violets and of indoor horticulture with the community. During that
time, it has had exhibits at the Philadelphia Flower Show, PHS’
Member’s Day and hosts it’s own annual show and plant sale in
addition to potting workshops. This year’s show will be held October
15th at Cathedral Village.
The group is delighted to extend to the community and anyone
interested in African violets an invitation to attend the Open House
and 60th Anniversary Celebration Thursday, September 1st. In addition
to the reception, members will discuss new acquisitions, varieties
that they brought back from the recent national African Violet
Convention held this past summer in Cherry Hill, NJ. Some starter
plants and leaves will also be available for purchase.
