2010 C.J. Martin Relay Carnival

Forecasted thunderstorms never materialized, making way for an exciting, July evening of fun-filled swimming competition. This year Fort Washington Swim & Tennis Club hosted swimmers and families from the six local swim clubs that have gathered for the past fifteen years to participate in the C.J. Martin Relay Carnival including:

Fort Washington, Manorlu, Manufacturers’, Maple Manor, Oreland and Sunny Willow. The event was created in 1996 as a cooperative effort between the Upper Dublin Aquatic Club (UDAC) and the Upper Dublin High School swimming teams, designed to promote swimming as a sport, Upper Dublin as a community, and the fun of athletic competition.

Many participants also represent neighboring communities and area schools. In 1998, the event was named for C. J. Martin, who swam for Fort Washington for many years and was a member of UDAC and the UDHS swim teams. As many noticed, there’s always a bit of extra energy when the event is held in “C.J.’s House!”

Many thanks to Fort Washington Swim & Tennis Club for hosting the 2010 C.J. Martin Relay Carnival, in particular their staff and all of the parent volunteers for their super effort and organization. The event was truly a highlight of the 2010 summer season for hundreds of youth and their families from the six participating swim clubs. A big hand for all of the participating team coaches, parent volunteers, and of course, participants for their contribution, which, as always, was instrumental in the success of this year’s Relays. It is the combined effort by Fort Washington, Manorlu, Manufacturers, Maple Manor, Oreland and Sunny Willow that make the C.J. Martin Relay Carnival a summertime hit year-after-year.
